Weekly Event Scheduler

this application, which has a calendar built in, was created as a scheduling device. originally created for an event coordinator so that he could manage applicants for a weekly talent contest. the contest will occur once a week, for unlimited subsequent weeks. the program allows users to create an account in which they provide a description of themselves, to describe their proposed performace, and to log their personal contact info. once their user account is logged, the user can request specific calendar dates when they apply to perform at the talent contest. the user can submit several requests to perform on different dates and at different times. the administrator is able to select a specific calendar week to check which users have requested to perform on that date (remember, it's only one day per week). through this admin page, the administrator is able to approve or deny each user request. this makes scheduling easy becase the users' requests are organized on an easy to read grid-- organized by user, date, and time of requested performance. upon the admin's approval of a user's requested performance, that user will be placed on the publicly viewable calendar. the registrant is then notified automatically via e-mail. through this registration application, the adminstrator's productivity is increased, the user is kept informed of his or her scheduled performances, and the public will always see a dynamic, up to date calendar listing of performances.
